Worried over very miserable baby Teething

My 12 month ancient has always been a small ray of sunshine – everyone comments on how he’s no bother etc. etc.

Well, this week we’ve had a terrible time with him and although he’s been terrible with teething before (refused bottle for a whole week when first teeth came through), he is refusing to eat anything but petit filous and chocolate buttons (terrible I know), and we have to force him to eat his dinner. At night he is waking about 4/5 times then stays awake from 5am. Naps normal. He just so grumpy and restless and very whingy.

How do you know if it is teething or something more sinister? I can’t see any signs of new teeth coming through (he has the first 8 with no. 7 just appearing just) and he is drooling quite terrible – leaving his clothes soaking wet.

To be honest, not really any more symptoms. He has a cold too, airless red nose and snottyness.

We are using Calpol and Nurofen but not really much use.
