Question

I want to know what suggestions are out there for nursing a teething baby. My 7 month ancient boy has 2 teeth on the top and bottom. He bites when I’m nursing him most of the time and I am at my last straw to wean him. I’ve nursed my 2 additional children and didn’t have a problem. As a reaction, I’ve patted him on the arm when he bites and startled him a couple of times, but I guess he thinks I’m playing around. What can I do to help him not bite while nursing? Help!!!!!!!

Ouch! I’m sorry Momma! Some friends of mine use a very firm voice and say NO BITING! Others say to place baby on the floor for a couple summary each time they bite. My MIL told me that each of her 4 babies bit once and never again when she slapped their leg quite hard, (just telling you what she told me, not advising you to do this). I can’t blame you for wanting to stop nursing, but I hope you can find some way to resolve this.

Ask Daft Daddy: Why are these babies toothless and bald?

We made it back safe and signal from our holiday road trip up north, and we even managed to not kill our Aunt Edna along the way. My wife Jeni, wee Mac and I stayed with our cousin Laura, who has this wonderful house on some lake. Now I don't know just so how she's one of my cousins – much like I don't know how Oliver was a cousin to the Bradys – but I do know she's family, and a fabulous host.

The only downside to staying with cousin Laura is the queen size bed Jeni and I had to take a nap in. Since we have a California King at home that can take a nap linking 8 and 10 people, I learned pretty quickly you have to be a performer in Cirque du Soleil not to fall out of a queen size bed. Needless to say, we're all quite pleased to be home and sleeping in our own beds.

So without additional ado, let me get to the Daft Daddy mail bag:

Dear Lisa: The first sign to look for is drooling. Wee Mac has just started drooling a lot. He must look like Pavlov's dog. And it's kind of amusing because actual foam blow out of his mouth. It makes me wonder if his bottle has milk or Palmolive. The vast majority of babies sprout their first teeth when they’re linking 4 and 7 months of age. An early developer may get his first colorless cap as early as 3 months, while a late bloomer may have to wait until he’s a year ancient or more. So there is no need to panic just yet. When he starts drooling you'll know that teething is right around the corner. If he doesn't start drooling, try ringing a bell.

Dear Daft Daddy: My son is over a year ancient, and he still doesn't have any hair. He looks like Lex Luthor. When will my cue ball be a hair ball?

Dear Scott: First of all, please leave the cheeky, useless references to Daft Daddy. With that being said, wee Mac is also as bald as your super villain son. If Yul Brynner and Sinead O'Conner had a baby, I'm sure he would look just like wee Mac. Some babies are born with a full head of hair, while others have only a sparse covering. Any way, be reassured that your child will have normal hair growth at some top, although it may take some time to be noticeable. But if for some reason your son starts kindergarten and is still bald, keep your fingers crossed that the school play that year is the King and I. Your son will be a lock for the lead role.

How to help soothe your teething baby naturally | Betsy Dewey

Teething.  Uggh.  Some say that runny noses, fever, and lethargy are not symptoms of teething.  I say – they're really incorrect.  Each time my babies were cutting teeth, they got cranky, feverish and had super-runny noses.  Whether the teething leaves them susceptible to colds or whether teething is the cause of these symptoms, I can't say.  Though I can tell you what has always helped to ease the suffering.

Homeopathics work

By far and away, the items that helped to soothe my teething children are homeopathic teething remedies – the small pills, the gels, and the liquids.  The best are Hyland's teething tablets.  Because they contain belladonna, they have been temporarily and absurdly taken off the shelves of stores.  Though, the gel is still available and works wonders.  You need to use it a lot. Each two hours, spray a small on your clean finger and place it in your baby's mouth.  You're held to place it on their gums, but I found that just getting in their mouths did the trick.

Teething tablets to head off ear infections? Yes!

One time we called the local pharmacy fearing an ear infection.  Our baby had been tugging on his ears and had a fever.  The wise woman questioned if he had been teething.  We said that indeed he had.  She said to give him the homeopathic teething tablets religiously each two hours and that it would probably all clear up.  They urge the teething tablets whenever there is teething plus: ear aches, fever, crankiness, etc.  She swore by it, and so do I.  When your baby starts teething, stock up on homeopathics and use them liberally!

Where do you get homeopathic medicine?  Health food stores and forward thinking pharmacies.  I also saw the teething gel at Target just.  The two brands I have seen and used are Hyland and Boiron.  Incredible stuff.  Especially considering that it's inert and has zero side effects.

Cold and Hard?

The additional natural thing that people do is give their babies something cold and hard to gnaw on.  I never found this to be very useful, but it might work for you.  Instead of spending $ on plastic, ooze-to the top teethers, you might try wetting a rag and sticking it in your freezer.  Some parents find that this is soothing to their children.  Not mine.  They weren't interested in a frozen rag or a $10 teether.  Frozen blueberries and bananas are just always a huge favorite, teething or not.

Breastfeeding!

Breastfeeding, and lots of it, was also a huge hit when teething was a issue.  And parents – if you ever find yourself taking off or landing in an airplane with a screaming baby, nursing is a magical trick.  Sucking helps to regulate pressure in the ears.  It can be so hard to be a baby.

Extra patience and compassion is also key

When your baby is cranky and inconsolable, above all they need your patience. Losing it only exacerbates the mayhem. I reckon that for two years, each time I couldn't figure out why my baby was crying, I assumed he was teething. I felt sorry for him and gave him homeopathics.  If he was in a phase of waking up each two hours, once again - must be teething, poor dear. In hind site, I reckon this is a excellent defaulting. Your baby is always teething, poor dear. Bless their small heart, hold them, nurse them, dose them with homeopathic teething medicine, nurse them again. They are learning at a deep level that when they feel terrible, they won't be alone, that they are loved, and that their needs will be met.  Your personality is being chiseled your first six years. Teething is the weather and you are Rodin. And as for the teething, this too shall pass.

Signs of Teething in Babies

Tooth eruption is a physiological process: the teeth can erupt without symptoms, but in many babies you have symptoms such as redness and swelling of the lining of the tooth. During this period the baby may show signs of local irritation, a tendency to rub the gums with your fingers or an oppose, all of which causes drooling. It causes an inflammatory reaction that can cause local reactions.

General symptoms mentioned are irritability, fever, loss of appetite, respiratory infections, diarrhea, constipation, excessive salivation, and rash. Controversy exists over whether teething can produce any of these symptoms or are simultaneous and independent.

General irritability of the child in relation to tooth eruption may make anxiety and insomnia and the presence of local tenderness sufficiently clarify these symptoms.

Respiratory infections in children are so frequent that any relationship that exists with teething difficulties seems to be a simple matter of considering simultaneous eruption covers a period of 30 months or so.

When considering partnerships with gastrointestinal disorders, we must remember that the eruption of the teeth starts in the period of gradual adaptation to additional children’s intake habits and therefore is common and normal to make small changes in the consistency and volume of stool.

my baby is teething, 2 teeth came in about 2 weeks ago. 4 days ago his fever reached 104 degrees, so we took him to the ER, they said give him tylenol and sent us home. He has had diarrhea for 2 days, and seems to be sleeping a lot more than usual. we are taking him to pedi tomorrow, but do you reckon we should take him back to ER??

Only if his fever is still high ( 101 or more) they tend to run a affront fever when teething but 104 is high, or if you feel the need to go, you know him bestmy dd has never had any of persons symptoms with teething; if the fever stays up, i would go back if u can't manage it with meds…
This was our Junior year history project. The movie itself disastrous huge-time, it really is pretty terrible, but hey, it got us an A. It also has it's amusing moments, so please, not mad comments about how much this video sucks, we already know.
