My oldest likes popsicles. It doesn't matter what time of year, be it hot or cold outside, she just LOOOOVES them!
I don't mind my kids some intake sugar, but as the adage goes "everything in moderation". Now, since most popsicles are pure sugar (and artificial colouring, but that's another tale…), I try to get the 100% fruit juice pops at the grocery store. But let me tell you, they are NOT cheap! So, like a lot of moms, I figured I'd make my own, like my mom used to do when I was a kid. But, I was looking for a way to make them really healthy… another ration or two of fruit. So, while I was blending our morning smoothies the additional day, I experimented and came up with this incredible concoction that makes the most delish popsicles. My daughter can't stop asking for them – and she doesn't even "like" mango!!
1 cup frozen mango chunks
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
orange juice
Blend all three ingredients in a blender (or Magic Bullet – my fave!) and freeze in popsicle molds. Makes approximately 6 popsicles, depending on size of popsicles.
They're fantastic for teething babies, too! So, find some fab popsicle molds in fun shapes (which, at this time of year, may be on sale – score!) and delight in.
