Your baby can start teething at any point from birth to 18 months and be considered normal. But, teething usually starts from 4 to 7 months, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Step 1

Step 2

Let your baby chew a cold pacifier or additional toy. Cold can help numb your baby’s gums and ease pain. For example, place your baby’s pacifier or teething toy into the freezer for a few minutes to make it cold. Do not place the object in the freezer for too long.

Step 3

Place a small ice cube, frozen strawberry, cherry or additional frozen fruit into a mesh pacifier and let your child chew on this. This will allow your child to chew on something hard and cold, without causing a chocking hazard. You can find mesh pacifiers from several supplies.

Step 4

Massage or rub your baby’s gums with your fiddle with to ease the discomfort. This helps as an alternative to teething toys. It also is suitable in situations when your baby is crying and not interested in chewing anything.

Step 5

Rub teething pain reliever onto your baby’s gums or use a numbing spray. These can help relieve some of the pain your baby is feeling. The effect of topical pain relievers lasts only a few minutes, but it may be enough to help your baby cool down and fall asleep.

Step 6

Give your baby acetaminophen to reduce fever. But, your baby’s fever might be a result of some additional health condition and not because of teething. Call your doctor before charitable your baby acetaminophen and never give acetaminophen to an infant that is less than 2 months ancient without talking to your pediatrician.
